A look back at the inaugural DLSSS Season

The DataLab Sports Sprint Series (quite the tounge breaker) hit the virtual race tracks of ACC for the first time in the second half of 2023.

Right in the middle, in between the big names of Veloce, UoL, BS+ and Sprout: Speedforce SimRacing!

Our Line Up for the season:

Marvin Reisenhauer

Julian Sauer

Jona von Mackensen (R3+R4)

Round 1 startet off with the first 2 races of the GT Masters format at the Nürburgring, after Julian qualified the car in 36th both our races were very chaotic.

Results: P42 & P37

The 3rd and 4th Race became quite turbulent before we even got to race day: due to being away on personal duty, Jona von Mackensen subbed in for Marvin last minute.

Unfortunately things went downhill quickly after a crashed entry list prevented our driver pairing from starting race 1.

Starting from the rear end of the field Jona and Julian brought the car home in 38th in race 2.

Round 3 at the legendary track of spa was predicted to be chaotic, and it did prove to be exactly that.

Despite showing solid pace in both qualifying and the races, once again the chaotic nature of the race prevented better finishing positions.

Results: P33 & P34

The pre-last round took us to Suzuka for races 7 and 8. Strong race pace saw Marvin climb up the order and into the Top 20 in the first half of race 1. A tiny mistake dropped him back a few places, proving how incredibly tight and high level the field was.

Results: P30 & P35

The big finale was set at Bathurst - the mountain of hell - with the championship on the line between the 2 entries of Veloce and the joint entry of UoL and BS+! In an equally epic, wild and controversial fight, the Veloce Vext car took the championship.

Our own race was a reason to celebrate as well. Kind of... in race 1 we were finally able to show our potential and finished in 25th after avoiding lots of trouble.

Race 2 then summed up our season quite well. A technical issue caused quite some damage to the car and saw us finish in P31, after previously running within the top 20!

The DataLab Sport Sprint Series definetly takes P1 in the most turbulent championships we have competed in, but despite having a tounge breaker for a name it does have a ring to it.

Exciting times ahead with season 2 already around the corner, starting in February 2024!
